It’s great being back in the village after 5 days in the chaos of the capital city Kathmandu, Nepal. The purpose was not to eat pizza and have a few luxuries, I did however enjoy a pizza and an actual bed with hot shower(I love pizza BTW), which was really nice after having to wash in cold water for the past week and eat rice and veg.
The purpose of the visit was to withdraw the donations kindly given by people from all over the world on the GoFundMe Page . We set up a bank account for Hrinzen and the village, this would make it easier for future transactions as it wasn’t exactly easy getting the money without huge fees.
Again we travelled by bus to the village, it’s a tough ride as i’ve previously wrote Vlog 7 . As we made our way back to the village we were maybe only 2-3 miles away and I could see Hrinzen getting a little anxious. I asked if all was ok, he then told me that a bus had skidded of the road dropped down the cliff for around 100m and killed many people, this happened only 2 years ago before the earthquake, according to this article I found 13 people lost their lives. The roads here are ok at best, you cross rivers, cling to the side of the mountains and have U bends up and down the mountains with pot holes and dirt roads this makes for a bumpy ride. You can always be assured of the music playing as you bounce along, normally Hindu music with a dance mix. You can see how accidents can happen.
We turn the corner to see that the first home had a roof!
Looking up in the distance we could see the imposing new home in all it’s glory. It brought a smile to both our faces after what was a pretty miserable bus ride. I was so happy at the progress of all in the village. Others have began preparing their own land in preparation. It felt like this massive positive cloud had swooped in and lifted everyones spirits. The sight of the first homes showed that we mean business and all 86 homes will get built 100% guaranteed!
